Patrina Lingard's International Girl's Day Workshop and Dove Self-Esteem Fund-Girl Empowerment
If we all work together to make a difference we will see our youth changing one day at a time.
Project Dreams is sponsoring a Youth Empowerment Workshop. Help us to do our part in our community. Support our efforts in our community.
These video are examples of the idea of what our Youth Empowerment Workshop will entail. The International Girls Day Workshop is a workshop hosted by Armstrong Atlantic University in Savannah, Georgia. Patrina Lingard did an excellent job in coordinating this event. She is a part of the team to build our workshop . We look forward to working with her in our future workshops. Project Dreams is committed to sharing the talents of our youth. Dewayne Owens is a senior at Westside High School in Macon, Georgia. Dewayne is an artist who is developing his skills each day. Dewayne was awarded $ 1,000.00, towards his education for his artwork of Otis Redding, by the Big O Otis Redding Foundation. Look for Dewayne to do great things.

On Saturday Project Dreams sponsored an event at Carl Dudley's store, Artrageous, in the Macon Mall. The purpose of our day was to support a young person who is living her dreams. Project Dreams also wanted to share with the community the talents of Jharee. Project Dreams believe whether a person is at the beginning, middle or end of accomplishing a goal or dream, it is our responsibility to help them to the fulfill that dream..Project Dreams is here to give our young people the support and encouragement they need to reach their dreams.
We had a wonderful time listening to Jharee speak on avoiding peer pressure, making the right choices and telling parents to never give up on their children. Jharee also sung three songs and presented us with her very own song "Pressure." We had a wonderful time! Project Dreams is always in search of dedicated youth committed to being successful.

Project Dreams and Jharee
This past week was a busy week for Project Dreams. We have been busy for the past two months preparing for this event. Our weeks progression started Thursday when Jharee, JaCobe ,JaCori, and I spoke on Al Tilman's Radio Show: "Unity in the Community." We spent an hour discussing issues related to all the violence that has been taking place in our city. We discussed the goals Project Dreams has for an event planned for Saturday September 17, 2011. Jharee discussed why she feels music is one key to helping to fight the violence in Macon.

Reflection
I spent this summer with some wonderful young people. I have learned life is full of lessons and some of those lessons come from people we least expect. I spent my summer at Stone Academy working with the children there. I went thinking that I would be the teacher of these children, but in the end I learned how to be more patient, kind and tolerant of others. Sometimes as adults we have to learn to be child like when we meet people and are learning to walk in our purpose. Pastor Tony has been enlightening in his teaching. Sometimes the lessons that are taught to children are lessons that we can use in our own lives.
Thank you STONE ACADEMY for allowing PROJECT DREAMS into your world!
